Hi there! I’m Ashley DeCarteret, President of Harbor Brenn Insurance Agencies.

My journey with Harbor Brenn began in middle school, helping my dad in his office on Waukazoo St. in Petoskey by answering phones and filing papers. Officially, I joined the team in May 1998 as a personal lines service agent and have worked my way up to become president in 2016.

As President, I have the privilege of leading an extraordinary team. Our group here at Harbor Brenn is dedicated and talented, and I’m always on the lookout for opportunities to grow and strengthen our team. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Smith College in 1997 and completed my MBA in 2013. Upon returning home after graduation, I was offered a full-time position at the agency when a co-worker chose to become a stay-at-home mom.

I am a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and hold licenses for both Property/Casualty and Life/Health insurance. My commitment to serving the northern Michigan area is reflected in my active involvement with the North Central College Foundation, Petoskey Regional Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club of Petoskey, and Connecting Women in Business, along with supporting numerous other community organizations through our agency’s participation.

Outside of work, I have a passion for travel, biking, and reading. I’m always on the hunt for good book recommendations, and if you have a few minutes, I’d love to share some of my favorite reads with you!
